Position Summary
Direct Dimension is seeking Fabricators to join our growing production team. This role supports the manufacturing and assembly of metal components used in production equipment and fabricated structures.
Fabricators are responsible for cutting, shaping, fitting, and preparing metal components based on engineering drawings and production requirements. This role works closely with welders and the broader production team to ensure components are accurate, production-ready, and meet quality standards.
We are open to multiple experience levels, with placement determined based on fabrication ability, blueprint reading, and overall production readiness.
What You Will Do
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders
• Measure, mark, cut, grind, and prepare metal components
• Perform material fit-up and preparation prior to welding and assembly
• Operate fabrication equipment including:
o band saws
o grinders
o drill presses
o plasma cutters
o layout and measuring tools
• Assist with forming and bending using press brake equipment (Whitney press brake)
• Align and secure parts using clamps, fixtures, and jigs
• Inspect parts to ensure accuracy, tolerances, and quality standards
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Follow all safety procedures and shop standards
• Support welders and production team members during fabrication and assembly
What We Are Looking For
• Experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or a related environment • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with metal and fabrication equipment • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a shop environment • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Preferred Experience
• Experience with MIG welding or welding preparation • Familiarity with plasma cutting or metal forming • Experience operating fabrication machinery such as presses, shears, or ironworkers • Experience using press brake equipment
Compensation
Compensation is based on welding ability demonstrated during the interview and weld test.
Typical range: $18 – $22 per hour depending on experience and skill level
Opportunities for overtime may be available based on production needs.
Physical Requirements
• Standing for extended periods • Lifting materials up to 50 lbs • Frequent bending, lifting, and use of hand tools • Exposure to a manufacturing environment including noise, heat, and metal dust
