Assembler/Production
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the section lead, the assembler is responsible for gathering all needed materials, parts, and hand tools to sew custom dock seals and shelters used in commercial and industrial loading docks.
Primary responsibilities:
- Operate industrial sewing machines (e.g., walking foot, double needle, bar-tack) to sew heavy duty vinyl curtain panels, hems, and reinforcements.
- Measure, cut, and assemble vinyl materials according to job specifications or work orders.
- Install grommets, Velcro, zippers, and other hardware or fasteners as needed.
- Ensure all stitching meets quality and durability standards for industrial use.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, or cut sheets related to curtain fabrication.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and equipment.
- Perform basic machine maintenance (e.g., threading, oiling, needle changes).
- Communicate with supervisors and team members to identify process improvements or troubleshoot defects.
- Assist in packaging and preparing finished curtains for shipment when needed.
Abilities, Skills and Experience Requirements:
1. Basic ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
2. Strong mechanical aptitude with prior manufacturing/sewing experience preferred
4. Must be able to accurately read and use various measuring devices
5. Ability to read prints is helpful
