Job Description
Description:
We are seeking a passionate and highly qualified AP Microeconomics Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of economic principles and the ability to translate complex concepts into engaging, accessible lessons for high school students. You will be responsible for preparing students for the AP Microeconomics exam while fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and a practical understanding of market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Develop and implement a rigorous, fast-paced curriculum aligned with the College Board’s AP Microeconomics course framework.
- Instructional Excellence: Utilize diverse teaching strategies—including data analysis, graph modeling, real-world case studies, and simulations—to explain core concepts such as scarcity, supply and demand, market structures, and factor markets.
- Assessment & Feedback: Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including AP-style practice exams, and provide constructive feedback to drive improvement.
- Exam Preparation: Strategically prepare students for the AP exam by focusing on both conceptual mastery and exam-taking techniques, including free-response question (FRQ) writing.
- Student Support: Provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and offer additional support outside of class hours for students requiring extra guidance.
- Professional Development: Stay current with the latest economic research, College Board updates, and pedagogical best practices.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Education, or a related field; a Master’s degree is highly preferred.
- Certification: Valid state teaching certification in Social Studies or Economics.
- Experience: Proven experience teaching high school economics or a strong background in collegiate-level economics instruction. Experience teaching AP-level courses is a significant advantage.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in integrating educational technology, and the ability to foster a supportive and intellectually challenging classroom environment.
- Knowledge: Expert-level command of microeconomic theory, including consumer choice, firm behavior, and market efficiency.
