Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Facilities Road Technician 3 is responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment to maintain mine site roads, berms, drainage systems, and other site infrastructure. This role supports safe and efficient mine operations by ensuring roadways and related facilities are maintained to design specifications and operating standards.
The position requires advanced equipment operating skills, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to identify and address site conditions that impact road quality, drainage, and overall operational effectiveness.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Safety & Compliance: Perform all work in compliance with site safety procedures, MSHA regulations, and company standards.
• Values & Professional Conduct: Demonstrate commitment to company values through safe work practices, accountability, professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.
• Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, including loaders, forklifts, backhoes, dozers, articulating trucks, water trucks, and motor graders.
• Road Maintenance: Maintain County roads, access roads, berms, and related infrastructure to established design and operational standards.
• Drainage Management: Identify and address erosion, drainage, and water control issues throughout the mine site.
• Equipment Inspections: Conduct pre-operational inspections and report equipment deficiencies or maintenance concerns.
• Lockout/Tagout: Follow Lock Out, Tag Out, Test Out (LOTOTO) procedures when required.
• Communication: Maintain effective communication with supervisors, dispatch, and coworkers using two-way radio systems.
• Operational Planning: Participate in line-out meetings, safety meetings, and daily work planning activities.
• Coaching & Team Support: Provide constructive feedback, recognize positive behaviors, and support a productive team environment.
• Additional Duties: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
• Demonstrated ability to operate loaders, forklifts, backhoes, dozers, articulating trucks, water trucks, and motor graders safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of Lock Out, Tag Out, Test Out (LOTOTO) procedures.
• Ability to perform equipment inspections and identify operational concerns.
• Ability to identify erosion and drainage issues across a mine site.
• Ability to maintain mine roads, berms, and drainage systems.
• Ability to operate equipment to established design specifications.
• Effective verbal communication skills, including the use of two-way radio systems.
• Ability to work safely in an active mining environment.
Preferred
• Previous experience maintaining mine roads and site infrastructure.
• Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment in a mining environment.
• Knowledge of mine road construction and drainage best practices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Work is performed in an active mining environment with both indoor and outdoor responsibilities.
• Regular exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dust.
• Frequent operation of heavy mobile equipment.
• Walking and working on uneven terrain.
• Climbing equipment access ladders and steps.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work as required.
• Exposure to noise, vibration, and moving mechanical equipment.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
