Job Description
The Concrete Pump Truck Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of a concrete pump truck to deliver concrete to job sites. This role involves driving, operating the pump, maintaining equipment, and ensuring high-quality service to customers on construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
• Safely operate a concrete pump truck at residential, commercial, and industrial construction sites.
• Set up, prime, and operate the pump according to job requirements and safety standards.
• Place and control concrete output as directed by the site foreman or crew.
• Monitor pump performance and adjust controls as needed for safe and efficient operation.
• Manage the movement and handling of concrete hoses or boom extensions.
• Ensure safe hose placement and maintain awareness of surroundings, overhead hazards, and personnel.
• Safely drive the pump truck to and from job sites following all DOT, state, and company regulations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle readiness.
• Maintain proper logs, paperwork, and delivery tickets as required.
Equipment Care & Maintenance
• Clean pump, hopper, boom, and all equipment components after each job.
• Perform routine maintenance and alert management to mechanical issues or needed repairs.
• Keep truck stocked with necessary tools, supplies, and safety equipment.
• Follow all environmental guidelines for concrete washout and material handling.
Customer Service & Communication
• Communicate clearly with customers, foremen, dispatch, and crew members.
• Provide professional, courteous service on each job site.
• Report site conditions, safety concerns, or job deviations immediately.
Qualifications
• Valid CDL Class B (or A) license with clean driving record.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and handle physical job requirements.
• Strong understanding of construction jobsite safety practices.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
• Outdoor construction sites with exposure to weather, moving machinery, and uneven terrain.
• Early morning start times, overtime, and weekend work as needed during peak season.
Physical Requirements
• Standing, bending, lifting, pulling heavy hoses
• Climbing truck and pump components
• Long periods of driving
• Ability to work in heat, cold, and dusty environments
