Job Description
Job Title: Linen Runner
Department: Housekeeping
Reports To: Housekeeping Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY:
The Linen Runner is responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient distribution, collection, and organization of linens, towels, guest supplies, and other housekeeping materials throughout the hotel. This position supports Room Attendants and the Housekeeping Department by maintaining appropriate linen and supply levels on guest floors, responding promptly to requests, and ensuring linen storage areas remain clean, organized, and properly stocked.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver clean linens, towels, and housekeeping supplies to designated guest floors and linen closets.
- Collect soiled linens and towels from guest floors and designated collection areas and transport them to the appropriate laundry or storage area.
- Maintain adequate par levels of linens, towels, and housekeeping supplies throughout assigned areas.
- Stock and organize linen closets, storage rooms, and housekeeping supply areas.
- Assist Room Attendants by providing additional linens, towels, amenities, and supplies as needed.
- Respond promptly and courteously to requests from Housekeeping supervisors, Room Attendants, and other hotel departments.
- Assist with guest requests for additional towels, linens, pillows, blankets, and other approved housekeeping items when assigned.
- Load, unload, push, and transport linen carts throughout the property.
- Maintain linen carts in a clean, organized, and properly stocked condition.
- Separate and properly handle clean and soiled linens to prevent contamination.
- Inspect linens and towels for stains, damage, or excessive wear and report or separate damaged items according to departmental procedures.
- Assist with receiving, counting, sorting, folding, and organizing linens and housekeeping supplies as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of linen rooms, service areas, corridors, and housekeeping storage areas.
- Report shortages, damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, lost-and-found items, and safety hazards to a Supervisor or Manager.
- Follow proper procedures for the handling, storage, and use of cleaning products and housekeeping supplies.
- Follow all hotel safety, security, sanitation, and housekeeping procedures.
- Maintain professional and courteous interactions with guests and associates.
- Assist the Housekeeping Department with additional operational needs during high occupancy periods.
- Perform any other duties requested by Supervisor/Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Room attendant, Housekeeping in a Hotel or similar role.
- Hands-on experience with cleaning and maintenance tasks for large organizations.
- Ability to use industrial cleaning equipment and products.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage, and disposal methods.
- Stamina to handle the physical demands of the job.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
EDUCATION:
- High School degree, GED or Equivalent.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English and Spanish Preferred (communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, associates, and external partners).
- Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
