The Greater Burlington YMCA is looking for Swim Instructors to help individuals of all ages and skill levels develop confidence and water safety skills. As a Swim Instructor, you’ll play a key role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging learning experience for participants while promoting the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

What You'll Do:

• Instruct Swim Lessons: Teach group and private swim lessons for participants of all ages and skill levels.
• Ensure Safety: Monitor swimmers, enforce pool rules, and respond effectively to emergencies.
• Engage & Communicate: Greet participants, take attendance, and provide feedback to swimmers and their families.
• Plan & Evaluate: Develop lesson plans using skill progression guidelines and track participant progress.
• Maintain a Positive Environment: Create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere while enforcing YMCA values.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with other aquatics staff and attend required meetings, in-services, and trainings.

What We’re Looking For:

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Ability to obtain or currently hold CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid certification.
• At least one year of experience working with children and/or adults.
• Strong sense of patience, enthusiasm, and responsibility.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Solid understanding of swimming fundamentals and ability to demonstrate skills.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, balance, kneel, and crouch as needed.
• Comfortable working in and around water for extended periods.
• Ability to communicate clearly for interacting with participants and members.
