Position overview
The Medical Aesthetician provides personalized skin care services and helps patients build practical treatment and home care plans. This role combines skilled service delivery, patient education, careful documentation, and close coordination with Donaldson’s Aesthetics and clinical teams.
The Medical Aesthetician builds lasting patient relationships by listening well, setting realistic expectations, and delivering consistent care. They also share product knowledge, contribute to team education, and bring forward ideas that improve the patient experience and the Aesthetics practice.

Primary responsibilities
Patient care and treatment

• Consult with patients about their skin concerns, goals, relevant history, and current routines. Recommend appropriate services and home care within the role’s authorized scope.
• Perform aesthetic services for which the Medical Aesthetician is trained, authorized, and approved by Donaldson. Services may include facials, peels, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, waxing, tinting, makeup application, and other approved treatments.
• Provide services consistently with applicable law, professional standards, Donaldson protocols, and any required clinical direction. Recognize when a concern or requested treatment requires evaluation by a licensed medical provider.
• Explain treatment plans, expected results, preparation, aftercare, and recommended follow-up in clear, practical terms.
• Maintain accurate, timely patient records, including consultations, services performed, products used, patient response, and follow-up recommendations.
• Prepare treatment spaces, maintain equipment and supplies, and follow sanitation, infection prevention, and safety procedures.

Patient experience and education

• Create a welcoming, comfortable, and professional treatment experience that respects each patient’s preferences, privacy, and time.
• Build trust through attentive service, clear communication, and continuity of care.
• Educate patients on skin care products and services, including proper use and realistic expectations. Recommend products based on patient needs.
• Respond to patient questions within the role’s expertise and connect patients with the appropriate team member when additional clinical or scheduling support is needed.
• Coordinate with providers, Experience Coordinators, and other team members so patients receive clear guidance throughout their care.

Team and practice development

• Maintain current knowledge of relevant products, treatments, techniques, and industry developments through continuing education and professional training.
• Share practical product and treatment knowledge with colleagues and assist with training when requested.
• Participate in evaluating proposed products and services, including testing, patient fit, training needs, and operational considerations. Bring recommendations to leadership for approval before implementation.
• Support patient education events and other approved activities that introduce patients to relevant products and services.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, service consistency, patient education, and the overall Aesthetics experience.

Qualifications
Required

• Current Ohio esthetician license in good standing.
• At least two years of experience providing aesthetic services.
• Strong consultation, patient education, and relationship-building skills.
• Sound judgment about treatment suitability, professional boundaries, and when to refer a concern to a medical provider.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow established safety and Donaldson protocols.

Preferred

• Experience in a medical aesthetics or physician-led practice.
• Registered Nurse or higher
• Additional training in treatments offered by Donaldson.
• Experience evaluating skin care products and integrating appropriate product recommendations into patient care.

• Location: Donaldson practice location in the Columbus, Ohio area
• Travel: Less than 10%, as needed for training or Donaldson events
