About the Role:
This position will focus specifically on the collection of food scraps from our commercial customers in the Fairfield & Westchester County region. Collections will be performed in a single-axle or tandem-axle dump truck. A Class-B CDL is required to operate these trucks.
Responsibilities:

- Performing pre and post-trip inspections of the truck.
- Safely operate a CDL Class B dump truck to service customer locations.
- Collect and transport organic waste (food scraps) from various sizes of totes and dumpsters.
- Accurately record and track collection data using a mobile application.
- Perform sanitation of receptacles, including pressure washing containers during warmer months as needed.
- Transport and dispose of collected organic material at designated processing facilities in accordance with operational procedures.
- Follow all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and environmental compliance standards.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Valid Class-B CDL License with DOT Medical Card
- Clean MVR and ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Ability to maneuver wheeled containers weighing up to 250 lbs. as part of daily collection duties.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, with the ability to begin routes no later than 5:00 AM.
- Ability to work independently while effectively following written and verbal instructions.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Normal work environment is a recycling plant, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.

- Must be able to climb into and out of truck several times per day using three points of contact
- Must be able to sit for extended periods as well as walk for short periods
- Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and squat to perform a full inspection of the underside of the truck and inspect tires for adequate inflation and potential damage
- Must be able to see and hear proficiently to operate a commercial motor vehicle in a safe manner
