What We're Looking For
The Automation Engineer I will focus on automation projects, use broad spectrum engineering expertise to design, implement, install, and support the creation of high-quality controls, machines, automation and other mechanically or electronically functioning equipment to support advancing manufacturing processes both within the BG ecosystem, and the general industry through BG Automation industrial equipment sales. The Automation Engineer I will apply engineering expertise to proactively identify problems and creatively provide solutions. This position will be responsible for leading and assisting in project planning, research and development, prototyping, testing, and release to manufacturing of new, and improvements to existing, Automation equipment.

- Adhere to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to design and refine machine assemblies, tooling, and automation equipment, with a strong emphasis on manufacturability, serviceability, safety, and cost effectiveness.
- Experience designing End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) and mechanical interfaces for robotics systems, including payload optimization, rigidity, reach, and repeatability consideration.
- Proficiency in developing robotics system layouts, including cell design, guarding, access zones, material flow, and ergonomic considerations with industrial environments.
- Strong mechanical design practices related to cable and hose routing, including energy chains, strain relief, bend radius control, and protection for long-term reliability.
- Exposure to robotics, automation, or programming, (PLC, Robot Programming, or System Integration) is a plus, with the ability to collaborated effectively across mechanical and controls disciplines.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- BS in Engineering Required: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, & Manufacturing Disciplines are Preferred or experience in lieu of education will be considered.
- 4 years' experience in manufacturing equipment/tool design/development preferred.
- 4 years' experience in design for manufacturing preferred.
- 2 years' experience in integration of robotics and automation preferred.
- Expert use of CAD is required. Solidworks experience preferred.
- Experience in plant layout or offline programming software highly preferred.
- Visual Components, Octopuz, KUKA Sim experience preferred.
- A minimum of two successful design to iteration to implementation Automation support projects completed is required.
- Valid driver's license required.
