Position Selection Process

This position is represented by WPEA and will be awarded according to the FVRL/WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

• Lateral Transfers: After posting the position for bid the Employer will award the position to the most senior bidder who meets the definition of a lateral transfer.

• Promotions: Any Employee for whom the opening would be defined as a promotion may submit a FVRL job application during the posting period. If there are no successful lateral transfer candidates, Employees who meet the minimum qualifications for the job classification will be considered. Skills assessments may be required for positions that have technical, mechanical or physical qualifications. Skills assessments will be scored and a passing point established. The passing point will be established by mutual agreement between the Union and the Employer. Candidates who have previously passed the skills assessment will not be required to retake the assessment unless it is changed. Qualified promotional candidates will be interviewed and those with the two (2) highest scores will be considered. Of those two, the position will then be awarded to the candidate with the highest seniority.

FVRL values diverse perspectives and life experiences. We encourage people of all backgrounds to apply, including veterans, those with disabilities, persons of color, immigrants, refugees, or those who identify as LGBTQIA+. FVRL is committed to being equitable and fair in providing access to opportunities for all.
