Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Laundry Attendant is responsible for cleaning, processing, organizing, and maintaining hotel linens to ensure a consistent supply of clean, high-quality items for guest rooms, food and beverage areas, and hotel operations. This position supports housekeeping and overall guest service standards by safely operating laundry equipment, maintaining cleanliness of the laundry area, and responding to operational needs in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Sort, inspect, wash, dry, fold, organize, store, and distribute hotel linens, towels, bedding, and other laundered items.
- Process and maintain food and beverage linens, banquet linens, napkins, tablecloths, and related items, as applicable.
- Load and unload washers and dryers, ensuring correct machine settings and cycle selection.
- Operate commercial washers, dryers, ironing equipment, folders, and other laundry machinery safely and efficiently.
- Prepare guest laundry bags, valet laundry bags, or related laundry materials as needed in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Deliver clean linens to housekeeping staff or designated storage areas in a timely manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of the laundry room, including equipment, work surfaces, and floors.
- Clean washers and dryers daily to ensure proper operation and sanitation.
- Monitor, restock, and properly store laundry supplies, detergents, and chemicals in accordance with hotel procedures, including proper labeling, storage, dilution, PPE use, and Safety Data Sheet guidance.
- Assist with tracking linen quantities and inventory levels for reporting purposes.
- Inspect linens for stains, damage, excessive wear, or repairs needed and remove unusable items from circulation and report concerns as needed.
- Ensure proper rotation of linen inventory to maximize useful life.
- Support housekeeping operations during high-demand periods by prioritizing urgent linen needs.
- Work cooperatively with housekeeping, front desk, and management teams to support guest satisfaction and timely room readiness.
- Maintain an organized workflow to ensure timely turnaround of linens for hotel operations.
- Duties may vary by property based on brand standards, occupancy, staffing levels, and operational needs.
OTHER DUTIES
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, maintenance issues, or safety concerns promptly.
- Comply with all hotel safety, sanitation, and operational standards while performing job duties.
- Assist other departments during downtime as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance and contribute to a hospitable service atmosphere.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous housekeeping, hotel, janitorial, or similar cleaning experience preferred (training provided).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to operate laundry equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to follow cleanliness, safety, and operational standards consistently.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage workload independently.
- Attention to detail, ensuring linen quality and proper handling.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
- Ability to work in a 7-day per week, 24-hour per day business environment, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required to meet operational needs.

- Must be able to regularly lift, carry, and maneuver laundry bags, wet linens, and bulk chemical supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and remain mobile on hard surfaces (concrete, tile) for the entirety of a shift.
- Frequent overhead reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, and repetitive use of hands and arms when handling linens and operating equipment.
- Frequently pushes and pulls wheeled linen carts, bins, and utility racks weighing up to 200 lbs across carpeted, tiled, and concrete surfaces.
- Regular loading and unloading of washers and dryers, including lifting and positioning wet and dry linens.
- Continuous, repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms to grip, grasp, sort, fold, shake out, and feed linens into commercial machinery.
- Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, detergents, and laundry products, requiring proper PPE use.
- Work is performed in a laundry room environment with exposure to detergents, cleaning chemicals, heat, humidity, and noise from operating equipment; may require use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Environment may include wet or slippery surfaces, moving carts in tight spaces, and continuous handling of linens; work pace may be fast to support timely linen availability for hotel operations.
