About This Position
Position Title: Engineer I/II/Sr - System Optimizer
Location: Omaha, NE, United States
Job Description: This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the levels posted, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise.
The engineer provides highly technical engineering services and directs the work of others in specific technical service areas such as mechanical and electrical activities.
Responsibilities: Provide engineering and technical direction services for pipeline operations to gas control personnel. Develop or update facility operating guidelines for new or modified facilities. Develop configuration plans for routine and non-routine operating conditions. Assist with presenting and training gas control personnel on new or modified facility operating guidelines and configuration plans. Represent gas control personnel in stakeholder meetings for new or modified facilities.
Provide technical input in identifying SCADA system enhancements or optimization projects. Assist with training gas control personnel on SCADA changes.
Support external customer requests related to OBA, ODI or general operating history.
Provide on-call support for EMRTs and scheduling allocations as the gas control representative.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Keep informed of industry issues and technical trends that can benefit Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company's business.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
Sr Engineer - Five or more years of experience as a practicing engineer in related engineering applications or other related industry experience.
Engineer II - 1-3 years related work experience as a practicing engineer in related engineering applications or other related industry experience.
Engineer I - 0-2 years related work experience as a practicing engineer in related engineering applications or other related industry experience.
Must have significant engineering knowledge of natural gas industry related to the operation of pipelines, compressor stations and process equipment.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Strong technical writing skills including the ability to communicate a basic understanding of technical information to non-technical people.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Cross functional skills; ability and willingness to cross over to construction coordination or project management work on specific projects.
Critical thinking and decision making skills to develop and present technical recommendations.
Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation.
