About This Position
Important Notice
Due to the nature of this role, prior hands-on experience in accounting within a manufacturing, distribution, or goods-based operational environment is required. This position is not entry-level.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant – Operations to support high-volume, day-to-day accounting activities within a fast-paced, goods-based environment. This role is highly execution focused and plays a critical part in maintaining the accuracy and flow of daily accounting operations, particularly related to banking, journal entries, reconciliations, and inventory transactions.
This position is ideal for an individual who thrives in an operational setting, values ownership and accountability, and is comfortable working in a transaction-heavy environment where accuracy and timeliness are essential.
This is a fully onsite position based in our Waukegan, Illinois office. Due to the hands-on, operational nature of this role and close collaboration with cross-functional teams, remote or hybrid work is not available.
· Ensure day-to-day transactions—including accounts payable, cash receipts, credit card transactions, and payroll—are recorded accurately and timely
· Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining general ledger integrity
· Perform timely and accurate month-end journal entries and account reconciliations (e.g., revenue, expenses, payroll allocations, inventory-related accounts)
· Process and support inventory transactions and internal controls
· Coordinate closely with internal partners regarding inventory data, timing, and reporting
· Serve as backup support for daily inventory activities as needed
· Assist with month-end close execution and ensure established deadlines are met
· Identify issues or delays proactively and communicate clearly with stakeholders
· Continuously identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes
Education and Training
- Bachelor’s degree required, degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- CPA certification preferred, but not required
Experience
· Two or more years of hands-on experience in financial management and accounting within a manufacturing, distribution, or goods-based operational environment
· Experience working in an ERP system required; Acumatica experience preferred but not required
Skills and Knowledge
· Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, with advanced Excel skills required
· Experience supporting accounting functions in wholesale, distribution, manufacturing, or similar goods-based environments
· Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
· Excellent data management and analytical skills
· Comfortable with high-volume, repetitive transactional work
· Demonstrated ability to balance speed with accuracy
· Direct communicator who takes ownership of deliverables and deadlines
· Growth-oriented mindset with interest in expanding responsibilities over time

Physical Requirements
