About the Role:
The Hoistman primary responsibility is the operation of the mine hoist for purpose of safely moving personnel, supplies, equipment and muck in the mine shaft.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible to conduct and document thorough work place examinations.Responsible for the safe operation and care of hoisting machinery to raise and lower cages , skips and miners. Responsible for receiving and giving clear communication Written, verbal, bell signals.Responsible for inspecting and testing hoisting machinery and completing documentation of inspections and testing.Moves levers and pedals to operate hoist in response to arm, bell, or buzzer signals.Observes dial indicator and marks on cable or drum to ascertain that desired position has been reachedApplies hand or foot brake and moves levers to operate hoist controls. Inspects, lubricates, and adjusts brakes and equipment.Assist in emergency response communications.Monitor cameras, gas detection equipment.WORK SHEDULE & ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Shift Assignments: Hoistmen may be scheduled to work 12-hour shifts on either the day shift or night shift, as determined by their supervisor.Overtime: Overtime may be required and will be assigned by the supervisor based on operational needs. Employees are expected to work assigned overtime unless excused by management.Call-Outs & Holidays: Hoistmen may be subject to call-outs and may be scheduled to work on holidays as determined by their supervisor.Paid Time Off (PTO):PTO requests are subject to supervisory approval and may not always be granted due to business or operational needs.The company reserves the right to approve or deny PTO at its discretion.Employees may request a PTO payout for accrued hours in excess of 40 hours, subject to company discretion.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or equivalent.Basic computer skills preferred. Proven safe work record required. Excellent attendance history required. Willingness to work in team-based environment required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
ATF possessor’s clearance required.
Must complete MSHA 40-hour training or provide 5000-23 documentation of completed training.
Must pass Hoist Operator physical and drug screen.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may require work on nights, weekends, and rotating shifts.
