Boone County Government is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Highway Worker in the Highway Department. This position is responsible for operating various trucks and heavy equipment to maintain County roads and rights-of-way. The ideal candidate will perform routine assignments with moderate supervision, ensuring the safety of equipment and property while upholding high standards of efficiency and professionalism.

• Operate trucks and equipment such as graders, loaders, backhoes, and dump trucks for road maintenance and construction projects.
• Haul, shovel, and spread road materials including stone, gravel, asphalt, and snow.
• Perform roadside cleanup and vegetation control using tools such as chain saws, mowers, and trimmers.
• Assist in the installation and repair of road infrastructure including guardrails, signs, and culverts.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment by performing routine checks and basic maintenance tasks.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to operate a variety of heavy equipment and tools safely and effectively.
• Physically capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing over 50 pounds and performing duties in various weather conditions and terrains.
• Valid Indiana Class B commercial driver's license (with air brakes endorsement) required within 90 days of hire.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• This position requires occasional evening, weekend, and on-call availability for emergency situations.
