Hazardous Waste Coordinator
$23 - $24 an hour
Daniels Health is hiring a Hazardous Waste Coordinator in Des Moines, IA—a role that blends physical work with administrative precision. You'll be responsible for safely handling, labeling, and organizing hazardous waste, while also managing documentation, audits, and compliance reporting. This position requires regular lifting (up to 40 lbs), attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and environmental standards.

What you will do - Respond to hazardous waste inquiries and resolve customer issues via Salesforce with accurate reporting and timely follow-up.
- Maintain inventory systems, audit paperwork, and ensure proper labeling and segregation of waste.
- Support all customer service and administrative functions related to hazardous waste logistics, including preparing and closing manifests, creating route books, scheduling with third-party incinerators, and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Serve as the first point of contact for hospitals and healthcare facilities via phone and email
- Investigate and resolve customer requests and complaints using Salesforce
- Physically handle, move, and inspect hazardous waste containers; lift up to 40 lbs and perform regular facility audits.
- Complete regulatory and customer documentation, ensuring compliance and process accuracy.
- Communicate with plant management on service issues and collaborate with the National Hazardous Waste Specialist on improvements.
- Manage container inventory, order labels, and uphold environmental and safety standards
- 1 year of experience in Customer Service/Administrative role
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 40 lbs, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks in a warehouse or plant setting
- Industry experience within operational environments and production platforms is ideal
- Intermediate Microsoft office skills to be able to efficiently report
- Salesforce experience is preferred but not required
- Proven experience within process improvement
