Seasonal Position - (April 27th - September 24th)
The Park City Fire District is seeking motivated, hardworking individuals to join our Fire Prevention Team for the 2026 wildfire season. This seasonal position plays a critical role in reducing wildfire risk throughout our community by performing hands-on fuel mitigation and supporting wildland fire operations when needed.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Fire Prevention Bureau; this seasonal, FLSA non-exempt position conducts fuel mitigation services in addition to possible wildland firefighting activities. Primarily performs duties related to vegetative fire fuel reduction. These duties include, but are not limited to, thinning and reducing fire fuels, chipping wood slash piles, hauling and delivery of wood chips, and possible wildland firefighter activities. May staff a wildland engine during red flag days.
Duties may include rigorous fieldwork requiring above average physical performance, endurance and superior conditioning.

- Operate wood-chipping machinery and wildland equipment safely and efficiently
- Clear brush, debris, and hazardous fuels in designated mitigation areas
- Thin vegetation to reduce wildfire risk
- Tow and operate District vehicles with chipping equipment
- Lift and move logs, branches, and other materials
- Occasionally operate a chainsaw
- Haul and deliver wood chips
- May staff a wildland engine during Red Flag Days
- Monitor environmental conditions and report safety hazards
- Communicate with residents regarding fuel reduction services
- Maintain daily activity records
- Perform other assigned duties as needed
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
21 years of age or older
Ability to obtain Red Card Certification (provided by PCFD after hire)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to build effective working relationships with coworkers, partner agencies, and the public
Experience operating tools and equipment used in vegetation management (preferred but not required)
- 40 hours per week; Beginning end of April - end of September
- Typical schedule: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Additional hours may be available during Red Flag Days
- $1/hour retention bonus paid for every hour worked if employee completes the full season
