CITY OF ALBANY HABITAT RESTORATION INTERNSHIP

The Program

The Public Works Department established the Habitat Restoration Intern Program to enhance the City’s understanding of the plant and animal communities on Albany Hill while promoting the development of healthier, more fire-resilient ecosystems.

The internship program is supported by grant funding from the California State Coastal Conservancy, which partners with local agencies to plan and implement projects that improve forest health and reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire in communities adjacent to wildlands.

Albany Hill, located on the western edge of the City of Albany near the shoreline of San Francisco Bay, is the City’s most prominent natural landmark.

The selected intern will work an average of 15–20 hours per week for a period of 3–4 months between May and September. Start and end dates are flexible and may be adjusted to accommodate academic schedules and other commitments.
