About This Position
Key responsibilities include managing and overseeing the activities and operations of power systems
maintenance programs and infrastructure, including the inspection, preventive maintenance, repair,
installation, and modification of power systems supporting electric bus charging systems, overhead
catenary systems (OCS), traction power systems, power distribution cables, and electrical substation
equipment. The Manager is responsible for directing inspections and repairs of traction power voltage systems, circuit breakers, monitoring systems, and associated electrical components.

- Power systems maintenance principles, including preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance for transit-related electrical infrastructure.
- Electrical infrastructure systems including substations, overhead catenary systems (OCS), and electric bus charging stations.
- Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations related to transit power systems and electrical safety.
- Industry best practices for electrical maintenance efficiency, asset reliability, and system uptime.
- Asset management principles for power systems, including lifecycle planning, procurement, and replacement strategies.
- Labor relations, collective bargaining agreements, and their impact on electrical maintenance operations.
- Safety Management Systems (SMS), hazard analysis, grounding procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and electrical risk mitigation strategies.
- Contract management practices, including the development of scopes of work, specifications, and oversight of vendor performance.
- Budgeting, cost control, and financial planning for power systems maintenance and capital improvement programs.
- Emergency response and incident management protocols related to electrical service disruptions and infrastructure failures.
- AREMA standards and recommended practices relevant to electrical and power systems infrastructure.
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical reliability and system performance issues across bus and rail operations.
- Developing and implementing electrical maintenance policies, standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Supervising and developing technical personnel, including conducting performance evaluations and career development planning.
- Analyzing electrical maintenance data and developing KPIs for power system condition, uptime, and asset health.
- Coordinating electrical maintenance activities to ensure safety, minimize service disruptions, and support operational continuity.
- Preparing technical reports, root cause analyses, and strategic recommendations for infrastructure investments.
- Developing and managing budgets for power systems maintenance and capital projects.
- Leading safety programs, investigating electrical incidents, and enforcing corrective actions.
- Coordinating emergency response and service recovery during electrical outages and infrastructure failures.
- Administering vendor contracts, monitoring compliance, and validating invoices for accuracy.
- Leading and managing a comprehensive power systems maintenance program for both bus and rail infrastructure.
- Overseeing inspection, testing, and commissioning activities for substations, OCS, switchgear, and charging infrastructure.
- Establishing and monitoring performance goals and maintenance targets to meet operational and safety objectives.
- Designing and implementing technical training programs to improve workforce knowledge and promote a strong safety culture.
- Collaborating with internal departments, utilities, industry peers, and regulatory agencies to improve system reliability and maintenance effectiveness.
- Supporting strategic planning and workforce development efforts to ensure long-term operational readiness.
- Functioning as a Disaster Response Worker, including work on nights, weekends, or during emergencies requiring electrical support.
- Effectively communicating complex electrical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership and field teams.
- Embracing and implementing emerging technologies to modernize maintenance operations and improve service delivery.

Pay Rate: $100,800.00 Annually or Depending on Experience
