Memphis Sports and Events Center is currently accepting applications for Youth Programs Staff members. The Youth Programs Staff members report to the Youth Programs Manager and will assist in the day-to-day operation of the Ninja 901 Adventure Course, Esports Lounge, Camps, Classes and Birthday Parties.
Ninja and Esports
- Work in the new Ninja 901 Adventure Course (a two-story play structure featuring over 40 fun and challenging obstacles) and Esports Lounge (featuring 25 state-of-the-art gaming stations) as assigned.
- Help process admissions by using software to collect customer payments and waivers.
- Monitor participant activity to ensure rules and policies are adhered to.
- Troubleshoot basic technical issues that may arise from time to time. (Training provided.)
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of spaces and supplies to be used.
- Other duties as assigned.
Camps and Classes
- Serve as a counselor or coach in assigned programs while following MSEC schedules, methodology and curriculum.
- Plan, lead and take part in activities for kids across a range of developmental stages.
- Create a fun and safe environment for all involved.
- Communicate effectively with kids, parents, fellow staff members and supervisors.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of spaces and supplies to be used.
- Other duties as assigned.
Parties
- Serve as a Birthday Party Host as assigned, helping execute parties by facilitating on-and-off court activities for groups of approximately 15-20 people.
- Ensure all guests feel welcome and have a positive experience, which may compel them to participate in additional MSEC programming.
- Communicate with F&B regarding party orders.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of spaces and supplies to be used.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High levels of energy, enthusiasm and positivity.
- Experience working with children of varying ages such as that acquired by involvement in schools, camps, sports leagues, theater, etc.
- Sports experience (e.g., basketball, soccer, etc.) is a plus.
- Ninja, parkour and/or climbing experience is a strong plus, but not required.
- Esports experience is a strong plus, but not required,
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to learn and speak about programs to help drive involvement.
- Ability to work irregular shifts, which often includes evenings and weekends.
- Punctuality and reliability relative to assigned shifts.
Education and/or Experience: No prior experience or training is required. Experience managing large groups of people or de-escalating emotionally charged situations is highly preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate with guests/participants in English. Other language skills are desirable.
Mathematical Skills: No math skills higher than basic addition and subtraction is required.
Computer Skills: Use of a windows-based workstation and associated property-specific software for the management of leagues and/or tournaments is required.
