PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Key Responsibilities:

• Civil 3D Design & Drafting – Create detailed construction drawings, including plans, profiles, sections, and details for transportation, water, sewer, and storm drainage projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Technical Support & Collaboration – Assist engineers, the Design Technician Manager, and other technical staff with design and drafting tasks while providing technical information to internal teams and the public.
• Topographic Review & Field Verification – Analyze survey base maps, review as-builts and utility records, and conduct field investigations to ensure design accuracy and completeness.
• Engineering Calculations & Quantity Takeoffs – Perform technical calculations related to civil infrastructure design and assist with cost estimation by conducting quantity takeoffs for capital improvement projects.
• Standards Compliance & Document Management – Ensure designs align with City standards and regulations while maintaining accurate project records and utilizing tools like Bluebeam and Microsoft Office for documentation.

We are looking for candidates who have:

• A blend of education and experience, including two (2) years college-level course work in civil engineering and drafting combined with Three (3) years of hands-on experience civil engineering design and drafting experience using Civil Engineering Design Software. Candidates should posses advanced expertise and knowledge of computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software, proficiency in the most versions of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Note: Additional experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year for year basis.

• Possess and retain a valid state driver’s license without impending loss at time of appointment.
