About This Position
Description:
The Engineering Support Specialist assists in the transition of engineering designs into efficient and accurate shop-floor execution. This role works closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure drawings, bills of materials, labeling, and layouts are complete, accurate, and ready for fabrication and assembly. The position also provides direct shop support by resolving issues, assisting with nonconformance resolution, and ensuring engineering intent is correctly implemented in manufacturing.
- Maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) and related data within ERP and engineering systems to ensure accuracy and alignment with design intent.
- Generate labeling packages, including wire, cable, equipment, and conduit tags, to support efficient shop floor execution.
- Prepare and review engineering release documentation to ensure completeness, clarity, and readiness for production.
- Develop and support conduit and cable tray layouts that promote efficient installation and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to review drawings and documentation for accuracy, clarity, and production readiness.
- Serve as a liaison between engineering and production to communicate design intent and resolve technical questions.
- Provide troubleshooting support to address fabrication and assembly challenges on the shop floor.
- Participate in non-conformance investigations by identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.
- Implement engineering changes and ensure documentation is updated to reflect revisions and approvement improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts by enhancing documentation, standardizing processes, and increasing production efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in engineering technology, manufacturing technology, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and electrical layouts with accuracy.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams.
- Apply problem-solving skills to resolve issues in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment.
- Understand electrical systems, including wire sizing and routing (conduit, wireway, cable tray) and labeling practices.
- Utilize ERP systems and support Bills of Material (BOM) development and maintenance.
- Apply knowledge of drawing review processes and manufacturing best practices.
- Experience working in a similar production or fabrication environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and electrical/mechanical layouts.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and documentation management skills.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams to support operations.
- Apply problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a production environment.
- Possess working knowledge of electrical systems, including wire sizing, routing (conduit, wireway, cable tray), and labeling.
- Utilize ERP systems to support BOM creation, maintenance, and related labeling processes.
- Apply knowledge of drawing review processes and manufacturing best practices.
- Support manufacturing operations through effective communication and technical coordination.
- Promote a continuous improvement mindset to enhance processes, documentation, and efficiency.
