About This Position
Key Responsibilities
- Teach PLTW modules (e.g., Launch for elementary, Gateway for middle school) following national PLTW curriculum requirements and instructional guidelines.
- Deliver interdisciplinary STEAM instruction through hands-on, project-based, and inquiry-focused lessons aligned with South Carolina standards.
- Attend and complete required PLTW Core Training and any prerequisite coursework necessary for PLTW course access.
- Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding PLTW instruction, student progress, and classroom activities.
- Maintain accurate student assessment data, records, and documentation in compliance with local and state expectations.
- Utilize technology tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and classroom technology systems to support instruction.
- Participate in district professional development and STEM initiatives to support continuous improvement in STEAM and PLTW programming.
- Ensure a safe, organized, and innovation-focused learning environment with appropriate care of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor/administrator
Requirements:Required Qualifications
- Valid South Carolina teaching credential, required for all instructional positions in SC public schools.
- Certification appropriate to K–8 teaching assignment (e.g., Elementary Education, Middle Level Science, Middle Level Math, or Industrial/Technology Education).
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEAM fields, Technology Education, Math, Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Willingness to attend and complete required PLTW Core Training, including prerequisite coursework.
- Ability to deliver hands-on, project-based STEAM and engineering instruction using PLTW curriculum, tools, and processes.
