Full-Time Driver

Join KGCDC’s mission to fight hunger and strengthen communities across Prince George’s, Montgomery, and Howard counties. As our Full-Time Driver, you will be the backbone of our food distribution network—ensuring families receive nutritious food through safe, reliable, and timely delivery.

Primary Role: Driver

This is first and foremost a driving position. You will be responsible for the safe, reliable transportation of food and supplies across our service area.

Operate a 26-foot box truck to transport food and supplies between warehouses, food markets, and partner sites across Prince George’s, Montgomery, and Howard countiesMaintain a safe driving record and adhere to all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and KGCDC vehicle policiesConduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; report maintenance needs promptlyPlan and execute efficient daily routes to meet distribution schedulesEnsure all deliveries are handled carefully, on time, and accurately documented

Supporting Role: Warehouse & Inventory Assistance

When not on the road, you will assist with warehouse and inventory tasks to support overall operations.

Assist with receiving, inspecting, and stocking incoming food productsSupport inventory counts and help maintain accurate recordsHelp maintain an organized, safe, and efficient warehouse environmentOperate forklifts and warehouse equipment as neededCollaborate with the Food Market Operations Manager, Hub Coordinators, and volunteersSupport weekend distribution activities on a flexible basis when needed

What We’re Looking ForRequired

Valid Maryland Driver’s License with a clean driving recordProven experience operating 26-foot trucksHigh school diploma or equivalent2+ years of warehouse and/or logistics experience (food services industry preferred)Forklift or equipment operation experienceStrong organizational and time management skillsGenuine passion for community service and fighting hunger

Preferred

Bilingual or multilingual (Spanish highly valued)Experience with SmartChoice Pantry or similar inventory management softwareBackground in community-based nonprofit organizations

Work Environment & Schedule

Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)Settings: On the road, warehouse, and outdoor environments year-roundPhysical demands: Extended standing/walking; ability to lift heavy items with machinery assistance
