Position Summary
Ocean State Media (formerly Rhode Island PBS & The Public’s Radio), serving Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, is seeking a Data Analyst to support our efforts in understanding and growing our audience and strengthening community impact. This role plays an integral part in informing key decisions across the organization by integrating the voice of the audience and community into the business decision-making process.
The Data Analyst is a highly visible role that requires strong analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of digital and social channels, and familiarity with broadcast metrics, CRM systems, and web analytics tools. The ideal candidate is naturally curious and able to gather, validate, organize, and visualize data from multiple sources, transforming cross-platform performance data into clear, actionable insights. This individual will support data-driven decision-making through executive reporting, collaboration with digital leadership, and analysis of audience behavior, engagement, and conversion activity across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain dashboards in Looker Studio that track key performance indicators across departments
Collaborate with internal teams to understand data needs and translate questions into analytical solutions
Manually extract, compile, and prepare data from external analytics platforms and internal data sources
Implement and refine website tracking through Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to improve conversion measurement and capture user interactions with sponsor links, calls to action, and other engagement-focused content.
Prepare monthly cross-channel audience reporting for executive leadership to communicate growth trends, reach, and engagement across broadcast, web, and social platforms.
Collaborate with the Director of Digital and Audience Engagement to develop data-driven strategies, identify opportunities for measurement and optimization, and support decisions that improve audience growth and engagement.
Comfort working with our SEO consultant to evaluate search performance, interpret traffic trends, and inform optimization strategies using web analytics data.
Perform time-sensitive, ad-hoc data requests and analysis
Create clear reports and data visualizations representing actionable insights that support internal decision-making and external communications
Help establish organization-wide data standards and promote data literacy among colleagues
Required Qualifications
At least 2 years of relevant experience in data analysis, research, or reporting with focus on consumer/audience data
Understanding of Data Visualization techniques, standards, and best practices
Experience with Google Workspace (GA4, GTM, Sheets, Slides, etc)
Proficiency in Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to support web audience measurement, event tracking, and conversion analysis.
Experience translating data analysis into clear, executive-ready presentations and recommendations for senior leadership and CEO-level audiences.
Exceptional analytical thinking and mathematical skills
Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn new tools and techniques
Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across departments
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to CRM systems or donor databases
Enthusiasm for using data to inform real-world decisions and impact
Experience in tracking data in a public media, journalism, education or similar context.
