Great Superintendents don’t just run jobsites. They build teams, solve problems before they become problems, and set the standard for how the work gets done.

Southway is looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead projects in North Carolina, including the Raleigh/Triangle and Lexington regions. We’re looking for someone who knows how to take ownership of a project — from planning and scheduling through closeout — while building strong relationships with owners, trade partners, and the people working alongside them every day.

Our projects include Tenant Improvement, Labs and Life Sciences, Multi-Family and Commercial Buildings. Experience in one of these areas is a must to be considered for the role.

At Southway, we build more than buildings. We build communities, relationships, and people. If you share our values of Quality, Dependability and Integrity and bring a Humble, Hungry and Smart approach to your work, come join us under the Southway Tent.

What You’ll Do

As a Superintendent, you’ll lead day-to-day field operations and partner closely with the Project Manager and project team to deliver safe, high-quality projects on schedule and on budget. You will:

• Lead all on-site construction activities from preconstruction through project closeout.
• Develop, manage, and communicate project schedules, including CPM schedules, three-week look-aheads, sequencing, and recovery plans when needed.
• Lead daily coordination with subcontractors and trade partners to keep work moving safely and efficiently.
• Own jobsite safety and quality, including orientations, inspections, quality control processes, and corrective action.
• Build strong relationships with owners, design teams, inspectors, trade partners, and other project stakeholders.
• Proactively identify project challenges and develop solutions before they impact the schedule, budget, or client.
• Partner with the Project Manager to manage general conditions, subcontractor scopes, RFIs, submittals, inspections, logistics, and project documentation.
• Manage project progress, punch list, inspections, as-builts, and closeout activities.
• Lead and develop Assistant Superintendents and field team members through regular coaching, feedback, and opportunities to grow.
• Help create a jobsite culture built around accountability, collaboration, communication, and respect.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means delivering a safe, high-quality project on schedule and on budget while creating a jobsite where people know what is expected, challenges are addressed early, and the entire team is working toward the same goal.

Just as importantly, our Superintendents are leaders. We expect them to develop the people around them, build strong relationships with our trade partners and clients, and leave both the project and the team stronger than they found them.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $147,000–$175,000, based on experience and qualifications.

Southway offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

• Medical, dental, and vision coverage
• Employer-paid life and short-term disability benefits
• 401(k) with employer match
• 4 weeks of paid time off plus paid holidays
• Professional development and on-the-job learning opportunities
• Discretionary bonus eligibility
• Auto allowance eligibility

And because building community is part of who we are, our commitment extends beyond our jobsites. Southway provides paid volunteer opportunities for employees, and each of our projects creates an opportunity for our teams to make a positive impact in the community it serves. Employees can also get involved with our Culture Builders, helping shape the experiences, activities, and connections that make Southway a great place to work.

If you’re an experienced construction leader who wants to build great projects, develop great teams, and make an impact in the communities where we work, come join us under the Southway Tent.
