SEASONAL EDUCATOR
DEPARTMENT: Park Commission
SALARY: $19.00 – $20.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
LOCATION: Tulpehaking Nature Center

POSITIONOVERVIEW:
The Mercer County Park Commission is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Seasonal Educator to support and lead environmental education programs at the Tulpehaking Nature Center. Under direction, the Seasonal Educator develops and delivers engaging, educational programs for children, families, and the general public, with a primary focus on summer camps and field trip programming.
This position also supports broader Environmental Education initiatives, including interpretive materials, community outreach, and assistance with special events. The Seasonal Educator plays a key role in expanding program capacity and supporting large group requests. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals who enjoy sharing nature, history, and environmental knowledge with diverse audiences and are seeking a flexible, seasonal schedule.
SCHEDULE & DURATION:
- Season: June through August
- Hours: 21–35 hours per week
- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday
- Work Environment: Predominantly outdoors
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads environmental education programs for a variety ofaudiences, including children in grades K–12 and adults.
- Develops lesson plans, activities, and educational contentas needed for camps, field trips, and public programs.
- Assists in the creation of interpretive materials, includingsignage, pamphlets, and educational displays.
- Supports outreach efforts through public engagement,including greeting visitors and communicating information about upcomingprograms.
- Assists with staffing educational displays at fairs,festivals, and community events.
- Provides guidance and support to interns and volunteers asassigned.
- Assists the Nature Center Manager and Director ofEnvironmental Education with operational and programmatic tasks as needed.
- Represents the Mercer County Park Commission in aprofessional, courteous, and knowledgeable manner.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous experience teaching, presenting, or leading groupsof people.
- Strong interest in nature, the environment, and/or history,with the ability to effectively share knowledge with others.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively aspart of a team; must be self-motivated and reliable.
- Ability to work outdoors on trails with uneven terrain andin varying weather conditions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability toprofessionally represent the Nature Center and Park Commission to the public.
- Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly encouraged toapply.

- Organizational skills and flexibility to support multipleprograms and priorities.
