Job Description
Downtown Portsmouth, NH | 100% Cash-Based | PT-Led Rehab Practice | New Grads Welcome | Celebrating 10 Years
If you became a chiropractor because you wanted to help people move better, get stronger, and stay active - but you don't want your career defined by adjustments, high-volume visits, or getting patients onto endless maintenance plans - keep reading.
There's another way to practice.
CJ Physical Therapy & Pilates is looking for a rehab-focused chiropractor who wants to work alongside physical therapists in a 100% cash-based, orthopedic rehab setting.
This isn't a traditional chiropractic office.
And that's exactly the point.
About UsCJ Physical Therapy & Pilates is a 100% cash-based outpatient rehab clinic in downtown Portsmouth, NH. For 10 years, we've helped adults 40+ stay active, mobile, and out of the surgery, injection, and medication cycle.
Our clientele is mostly in their 40s and up. They're active. Intelligent. Curious. They ask great questions and have a vested interest in having agency over their health, movement, and longevity.
They don't just want their pain to go away. They want to understand what's happening, get stronger, stay active, and keep doing the things that matter to them for decades to come.
Honestly - our clients are the best.
Our clinical model integrates:
Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy (MDT / McKenzie Method)
Hands-on treatment and movement-based rehabilitation
Pilates-based rehab using the tower, chair, and reformer
Strength and progressive exercise
Regenerative therapies including Shockwave (EPAT/ESWT) and EMTT
You don't need experience in all of these to apply. We provide structured training and mentorship.
What you do need is curiosity, high standards, and a desire to become an exceptional rehab clinician - not simply someone who adjusts people.
Why A Chiropractor In A PT Practice?Because we care far more about how you think and treat than the letters after your name.
We're building a multidisciplinary clinical team around one goal: helping active adults get out of pain, stop the cycle, and expand what their bodies are capable of doing.
You'll work alongside PTs who evaluate movement, use hands-on treatment, prescribe progressive exercise, integrate Pilates and strength training, and think beyond simply getting someone out of pain.
We want you bringing the strengths of your chiropractic training into that environment.
That might include manual therapy and manipulation. But those should be tools in your toolbox - not your entire treatment philosophy.
You'll be expected to assess the whole person, think critically, educate clients, progress exercise, collaborate with other clinicians, and ultimately help people become less dependent on treatment - not more dependent on it.
If that's how you've always wanted to practice, you'll fit in well here.
And We're Just Getting Started. We're celebrating our 10th year - and we're entering our biggest growth phase yet.
Our goal is to 10x the business over the next three years.
We don't have every piece of that mapped out yet. That's the point.
We're building the next version of CJPT now - expanding our clinical team, developing new leaders, adding services, and ultimately bringing this model of care to far more people.
That means we're looking for people who don't just want a job.
We want clinicians who are excited by the possibility of helping us build what comes next.
Never Worked Cash-Pay Before? That's OK.Almost nobody on our clinical team had worked in a cash-pay environment before coming here.
We train it.
You'll learn how to confidently explain what you see, communicate a plan, talk about value and pricing, and help clients make good decisions about their care.
There's no insurance company deciding how many visits someone gets or whether their treatment is "medically necessary."
But that freedom comes with accountability.
Our clients are choosing to invest their own money in getting better. We take that seriously.
You'll be expected to deliver an experience and outcome worth paying for.
Why You'll Love Working HereWe invest in your growth - structurally, not just in words.
Our clinic closes every Tuesday for 3 hours of dedicated team training. Real cases. Real clinical discussion. Real skill development. This isn't a 15-minute meeting squeezed between patients.
You'll train alongside experienced physical therapists and learn approaches you probably weren't exposed to in chiropractic school.
You'll receive mentorship in MDT, movement-based rehab, regenerative therapies, and our overall clinical model.
$2,000 annual CEU allowance + dedicated CEU days that don't eat into your PTO.
Clear opportunities to grow into mentorship and clinical leadership as the company expands.
The day-to-day supports great clinical work.
1:1 care - no assembly-line treatment
No insurance battles or documentation rabbit holes
Time to actually educate your clients
Access to Pilates equipment, progressive exercise, Shockwave, EMTT, and other tools to help clients get results
Collaborative clinical team. Low ego, high standards.
Fun, dog-friendly, low-drama culture in the heart of downtown Portsmouth
Evaluate orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions using a mechanical, movement-focused approach
Use manual therapy and manipulation when clinically appropriate - not as the default answer for every client
Prescribe and progress exercise, strength, mobility, and movement-based rehab
Learn to integrate Pilates-based rehabilitation and regenerative therapies into client care
Educate clients so they understand what's happening and what they can do about it
Own your client outcomes, retention, and long-term results
Collaborate closely with our PTs and other members of the clinical team
Show up fully for our Tuesday training blocks and mentorship
Contribute ideas and help us build the next version of CJPT
You consider yourself a rehab clinician first and a chiropractor second
You love chiropractic but don't want to work in a traditional chiropractic office
You believe manipulation is valuable - but it's one tool, not the whole treatment plan
You want to combine hands-on care with exercise, strength, movement, and education
You enjoy working with active, motivated adults who ask questions and want to understand their health
You want mentorship and actively seek feedback
You're comfortable being measured on results
You're curious and constantly trying to get better
You're excited about working on a multidisciplinary team
You want your career opportunities to grow as the company grows
You want to adjust patients all day
You believe everyone needs ongoing chiropractic maintenance
You want patients dependent on you to feel good
You don't enjoy exercise-based rehabilitation
You want to practice completely independently from the rest of the clinical team
You don't want feedback or clinical mentorship
You're looking for a low-accountability environment
You're more interested in a particular technique or philosophy than figuring out what the individual client actually needs
Licensed Chiropractor in New Hampshire or license-eligible
Strong interest in orthopedic, sports, and movement-based rehabilitation
Comfortable with hands-on treatment and manipulation
Excited to develop stronger exercise prescription and rehabilitation skills
Curious about MDT, Pilates-based rehab, Shockwave, EMTT, and regenerative therapies
Strong communicator and educator
Accountable, coachable, curious, and a real team player
New grads are welcome.
We'd rather hire someone with the right mindset and clinical curiosity and train the rest than hire someone with 15 certifications who isn't open to doing things differently.
Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experience and prior con-ed
$250/month toward company-sponsored health insurance
50% dental premium paid by employer
401(k) with up to 4% company match

Clinic closed (and paid) between Christmas and New Year's, in addition to PTO
Company-sponsored short-term disability + family medical leave
$2,000 annual CEU allowance + CEU days separate from PTO
Real career advancement based on outcomes and growth - not tenure
