Job Description
The Academy Coach will support & help drive a culture of excellence and long-term development within the entire club environment.
Below are the core elements of a successful Academy Head Coach candidate’s profile:
- Enthusiastic for the opportunity that this role presents
- Exceptional work ethic: minimum commitment of 40 hours per week; nights, weekends, odd hours
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, marked by; honesty, empathy, and service
- USSF B License (or foreign equivalent)
3+ years of coaching experience at the U13 age group or older in a high performance environment and/or playing experience of the same
level/standard
- Proficient in the use of Performance Analysis Tools and present the findings in a team environment to drive the development of players and
- team.
- A valid drivers license
- Clear criminal background check
- Eligible to live and work in the United States of America
This person will be responsible for delivering team sessions. Additionally, the Academy Head Coach is expected to work closely with the rest of
the MDT to develop, implement and update each players IDP. Following along with that role the Academy Head Coach will work closely with
the rest of coaching staff to insure our best possible opportunity to develop across the age groups.
Detailed responsibilities are as follows:
Macro - Yearly
- In conjunction with the Academy staff, assess & evaluate the strength and depth of the squad
- Research and develop trends in the game and provide solutions for the best path forward with regard to our game model, pedagogy, and
- player pool.
Meso - 8 Week Block
- Reflect on the impact of previous training blocks with Academy Staff and MDT: with relation to predetermined KPI's
- In conjunction with the Academy Staff, plan the next 8 week block with taking into account the reflection of the previous 8 weeks
Micro - Week
- 100% Attendance: team training sessions, matches, staff meetings, and other team/club events
- Meet weekly with the Academy staff
- Develop & run team sessions, based on the next step in implementing the style of play, with taking into account the past performance of the
- team and future opponent
- Collate, analyze, and produce actionable plans based on the various data points collected across video analysis of opponents, video analysis
- of team & individuals (training & matches), style of play KPIs from games. Such “actionable plans” could include, but are not limited too: a.)
- developing a tactical approach for an opponent or a specific threat they pose; b.) developing new training activities to meet a need in the squad
Additionally, the successful Academy Head Coach candidate will possess some of the desirable qualities, abilities, or titles listed below:
- Degree(s) in relevant field (i.e. education, psychology, management, information technology,
- marketing, graphic design.)
- Brings a “+1” (Sports Science, ADT, AT, Video Analysis Skills, Bi-lingual, Medical Professional,
- GK specialist, Tech Savvy)
- Proficient with Google Drive, PDF, Excel, Keynote/Powerpoint skills
