Job Description
This is a construction and home repair job — we just also protect Ohio's native wildlife!
TLC Wildlife Management is Central Ohio’s only exclusively non-lethal wildlife management company. We love wildlife, but the majority of this position involves repairing homes and buildings to keep wildlife out.
Our technicians inspect structures, identify entry points, and use hand tools, power tools, metal, sealants, screening, and other construction materials to create permanent, high-quality repairs.
If you have experience in construction, roofing, siding, carpentry, maintenance, landscaping, or another hands-on trade, we want to hear from you. Wildlife experience is not required. We can teach you the wildlife side.
- Inspect homes from the foundation to the roof for wildlife entry points.
- Perform exterior repairs and wildlife-proofing work.
- Use hand and power tools to cut, fasten, seal, and install materials.
- Work from ladders and in attics, crawlspaces, and other tight spaces.
- Hand-dig and install underground barriers around decks, sheds, and porches.
- Install temporary one-way devices that allow wildlife to safely leave.
- Take photos, document your work, and communicate professionally with customers.
- Experience with construction, home repair, roofing, siding, carpentry, landscaping, maintenance, or similar work is a strong plus.
- Comfortable using hand and power tools.
- Comfortable working on ladders and at heights.
- Physically capable of lifting and handling up to 70 lbs.
- Willing to work outdoors year-round and in attics and crawlspaces.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable, professional, and able to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to pass the ODNR Nuisance Operator Test; training is provided.
- Competitive pay with performance bonuses.
- Paid training.
- License and certification reimbursement.
- 401(k) with company matching.
- Paid time off.
- Opportunities for advancement in a growing company.
People who enjoy building, fixing, problem-solving, and working with their hands.
Every home is different, so this isn’t repetitive assembly-line work. You’ll need to look at a structure, figure out how wildlife is getting in, and determine the best way to repair and protect it — while maintaining the appearance of the home.
We love wildlife, but if you’re applying because you mainly want to work directly with animals, this probably isn’t the job you’re looking for.
If you take pride in quality workmanship, enjoy working outdoors, and want to learn a specialized trade that protects both homes and wildlife, we’d love to meet you.
