Job Description

SUMMARY:

A Foster Care Coach will work closely with the Foster Care Coordinator, foster care staff, and foster parents in providing support services to children and foster parents of La Paloma Family Services’ programs. These services include individual and group training, assisting foster parents and advocating within the child welfare and behavioral health systems. The Foster Care Coach will also coordinate with outside agencies, schools, and agencies in the provision of these services.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree or, An associate’s degree and two years of experience in social services, or

High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and four years of experience in social services.

Experience in child welfare or human services, specifically monitoring and licensing foster. homes. Previous experience in writing home studies and assessments of family systems. Excel in time management, organization, and meeting deadlines. Certified PS-MAPP Trainer and PS-DT Trainer, or willing to become certified.

Experience working with kinship families.

Proficiency writing and speaking English.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Ability to work cooperatively and independently with agency personnel at all levels. Willingness to adapt to a constantly changing environment. Able to work under minimal supervision and meet periodic deadlines. Good communication skills with internal staff and the public. Good verbal and written communication skills.

Other Potential Requirements:

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is helpful

Availability to work evening hours

Ability to participate in play/recreational activities

Must have Fingerprint clearance
