General Summary:

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operations, and overall condition of all owned and leased properties for Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin (GSCWI) and affiliated corporations. This role ensures facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained to support operational excellence and advance Goodwill’s mission.

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Supervise, support, and train direct reports.
  • Oversee the daily operations and workflow of the Facilities Department.
  • Provide timely, constructive performance feedback and evaluations for direct reports.
  • Manage employee coaching, corrective action, and discipline in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and oversee contractors performing work across all company locations and properties.
Requirements:

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise operational matters related to building systems, preventive maintenance services, and facility operations across a multi-site environment including commercial, office, and residential properties.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate general maintenance, repairs, and special projects as needed.
  • Perform hands-on repairs and preventative maintenance at all company locations and residential properties.
  • Coordinate and continuously improve the Preventative Maintenance Program to maximize the life expectancy of company assets.
  • Lead the facilities function in a manner that strengthens organizational image and branding while maintaining high property and appearance standards.
  • Monitor direct reports’ schedules and hours worked; review and approve bi-weekly payroll.
  • Oversee property services including janitorial, groundskeeping, and general maintenance operations.
  • Routinely inspect grounds, facilities, equipment, and building systems to identify maintenance needs and ensure timely resolution.
  • Purchase building materials, maintenance supplies, equipment, and furniture in accordance with company policy and budget guidelines.
  • Lead and manage facility staff, including maintenance technicians and cleaning personnel, providing direction, coaching, and support.
  • Optimize space utilization by managing room assignments, facility reconfigurations, and furniture layouts.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards related to facilities and property operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize energy consumption and reduce utility costs across all properties.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet vehicle usage, mileage, and fuel efficiency.
  • Dispatch and coordinate technician travel to maximize efficiency, productivity, and timely work order completion.
  • Perform general property upkeep including cleaning common areas, replacing light bulbs, and completing minor repairs as needed.
  • Recommend, select, and support the use of applications related to asset management, mapping, and demographic analysis to improve system value and workflow efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to deliver proposals and information to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software applications.
  • Ability to effectively use computer applications including asset management software, automated work order systems, and Excel for tracking, reporting, and spreadsheet development.

Travel Required: Daily travel to different worksites, as needed.

Required education and/or work experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certification in facilities management or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in facilities management, preferably within a multi-site business environment.
