Job Description
DSRT SURF isn't a traditional workplace, and we're not looking for a traditional pool maintenance technician.

The Commercial Pool Maintenance Technician (Lagoon Operations) is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, water quality, and operational readiness of our 5.5-acre surf lagoon and associated aquatic systems. Working overnight while the lagoon is closed, this role performs routine cleaning, water testing, preventative maintenance, and equipment monitoring to ensure the lagoon is ready for daily operations.
This is not a residential pool maintenance position. Experience working with commercial pools, aquatic facilities, water parks, municipal pools, resort pools, or large-scale water treatment systems is required.
What You'll Do
Lagoon & Pool Maintenance
- Perform overnight cleaning of the 5.5-acre surf lagoon and surrounding aquatic areas
- Remove debris from the lagoon, beach entries, skimmers, drains, and filtration systems
- Vacuum, brush, and maintain lagoon surfaces using manual and automated cleaning equipment
- Monitor the overall cleanliness and presentation of the lagoon and surrounding guest areas
- Assist with maintaining pools, spas, water features, and other aquatic amenities throughout the property
Water Quality & Equipment
- Test, monitor, and record water chemistry throughout each shift
- Adjust water chemistry in accordance with company standards and applicable health regulations
- Operate and monitor pumps, filtration systems, UV treatment, automated chemical feed systems, and other water treatment equipment
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment issues or maintenance needs
- Perform preventative maintenance on aquatic systems and equipment
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, water quality records, and inspection documentation
Facility Maintenance
- Maintain pump rooms, equipment areas, and maintenance spaces in a clean and organized condition
- Inspect lagoon infrastructure, aquatic equipment, and mechanical systems for wear, damage, or safety concerns
- Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance as assigned
- Assist the Facilities team with additional overnight maintenance projects as needed
Safety & Operational Excellence
- Follow all company safety procedures and chemical handling protocols
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and company water quality standards
- Ensure the lagoon is fully prepared for daily operations before opening
- Support a safe, clean, and exceptional guest experience through proactive maintenance and attention to detail
What You Bring
- Previous experience maintaining commercial pools, aquatic facilities, water parks, resort pools, municipal pools, or large-scale water treatment systems required
- Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification preferred
- Experience working with commercial pumps, filtration systems, water chemistry, and automated chemical feed equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify maintenance concerns and troubleshoot equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, safety, and water quality
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Reliable attendance, dependability, and strong time management skills
- Comfortable working overnight shifts and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to safely handle pool chemicals and follow established safety procedures

Compensation
This is a non-exempt, hourly position. The anticipated pay range for this role is $23–$25 per hour. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, and business needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work for extended periods
- Ability to walk up to 1.5 miles and navigate stairs, uneven surfaces, and outdoor terrain throughout a shift
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to safely handle pool chemicals, water treatment products, maintenance equipment, and tools
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme desert heat, wind, dust, and occasional cold temperatures
- This role is primarily performed in an outdoor environment for the duration of each shift
- Ability to work in and around water, mechanical equipment, pump rooms, and filtration systems
- Ability to safely navigate aquatic, mechanical, and maintenance equipment areas
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, as equipment manuals, water testing procedures, technology systems, safety documentation, and shift logs are maintained in English
Current Work Environment
DSRT SURF is currently operating from an active construction and development site as we prepare for opening. Team members may occasionally work around construction activity, dust, noise, uneven surfaces, and changing operational environments.
Appropriate footwear and adherence to all company safety guidelines will be required while on site. Certain roles may require work boots or other safety-related attire during this phase of development.
Schedule Expectations
This is a full-time, overnight position. Typical hours are 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, including weekends, holidays, and other overnight shifts as business needs require. Overnight maintenance is essential to supporting continuous lagoon operations and ensuring the facility is ready for guests each day.
