Responsible for maintaining the corporate management of support in the areas of Occupational Safety and Environment, through frequent meetings, aiming to guarantee the physical integrity, well-being, the organizational climate, care for the Environment and the quality of life of employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ASSIGNMENTS
- Ensure the mitigation, neutralization or elimination of risks in the process through standards, programs, plans, norms and operational procedures, aiming at the prevention of accidents and occupational diseases;
- Ensure a condition of response to the emergency through training and training of the cadre of firefighters and emergency responders;
- Carry out training on safety and operation of equipment, fire brigades and first aid, use of PPE's in order to teach, sensitize and make employees aware of the importance of safety for everyone's integrity;
- Reduce or eliminate the number of accidents, through a Continuous Prevention Program;
- Perform occupational safety audits, with the objective of reducing, neutralizing or minimizing risks, according to schedules;
- Determine the need for employee examinations according to the area and risk of each process, as well as monitor their results, guiding managers in correction and prevention actions.
- Accompany technical visits by government agencies (Fire Department, OSHA, etc.);
- Develop Standards, Procedures, Internal Guidelines, in order to direct the execution of safe activities;
- Utilize data analysis tools and methodologies to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in safety performance.
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
- Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
- Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
- Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
- Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Occupational Safety Technician completed and be studying Technologist or Engineering.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) are often preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
