Job Description
Position Summary:
The Clinical Education Specialist serves as a subject matter expert responsible for enhancing clinical knowledge, promoting evidence-based practice, and ensuring high standards of patient care through comprehensive education and training initiatives. This position plays a vital role in onboarding new staff and ensuring compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements are met. In addition to onboarding new staff, this position oversees the management of the Clinical Float Pool and assignments. The Clinical Education Specialist reports directly to the Vice-President of Medical Group and works closely with the Clinical RN Supervisor and Clinical Manager to foster a Culture of One and continuous learning and clinical excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to identify learning needs, develop educational materials, conduct training sessions, and evaluate program effectiveness
- Oversees the management of the Clinical Float Pool and assignments
- Responsible for onboarding new staff, supporting professional development, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices
- Provide leadership in educational planning, competency assessment, and quality improvement initiatives
- Must have strong clinical care expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to educate a diverse healthcare audience
- Ability to work closely with nursing staff, physicians, ambulatory teams, and healthcare leaders to foster a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence
- Manages key house-wide or multi-departmental programs to support education needs of clinical staff
- Develops, implements and evaluates continuing education programs, curriculums for orientation and ongoing professional development of clinical staff that meet and/or exceed national standards for continuing education requirements
- Collaborates with administration, patient care services, leadership, shared leadership councils, staff and key department and LRHS personnel to develop education plans and implementation patient care and regulatory requirements
- Analyzes developmental and educational needs and evaluates effectiveness of educational activities
- Designs educational programs that are cost-effective, meet the needs of adult learners, and are based upon sound educational principles
Required Education/Certification:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree: Allied Health, Nursing, Healthcare Admin, or other related fields preferred.
- BLS/CPR required if clinical.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (Experience)
- Prior experience in ambulatory care, physician practice management, or multi-site operations or equivalent experience.
- Project management or people management experience or progressive responsibility in a customer service or healthcare setting
- Experience in developing healthcare educational material.
- Knowledge of EMR systems and healthcare operations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and active listening.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Time management and coordination
- Advanced computer skills with experience in MS office.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Can prioritize, delegate, and organize their schedules and task.
Preferred Education/Certifications:
- 3+ years of medical practice or medical group administration experience.
- Multi-site healthcare operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a clinical or behavioral health-related field
- Specialty certifications may be required based on clinic specialty.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Travel Expectation: 15%
- Travel regularly to assigned clinics, provider offices, healthcare facilities, and other locations as needed.
- Maintain reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout assigned service areas.
Working Environment: Position is located in an office setting.
Work Location: This position is located at LRHS main campus.
Physical Demands: Prolonged standing and sitting in a stationary position, typing, visual acuity, ability to carry objects up to 25lbs for events and/or transporting marketing items, effective communication with internal and external customers, and occasional lifting, bending, and stooping.
