Description:
The Warehouse Supervisor ensures proper receiving, shipping, handling, distribution and storage of all freight, product and supplies that come in and out of warehouse and directs the daily activities of other dock personnel and those acting in that capacity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations including receipt, storage, picking, packing, and dispatching of goods
- Act as point of contact for customer service related needs. Collaborate with operations and customer service teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment
- Supervise staff, including training on SOP changes and new processes, monitoring productivity, handling performance management and disciplinary issues that may arise
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices and technological solutions
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to manage inventory and streamline operations
- Use the metrics available to measure workload and productivity.
- Maintain accuracy with inventory levels in order to meet internal and external demand of product
- Address operational issues and inventory discrepancies; communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders
- Prepare turnover report for incoming shift, if applicable
- Assist with planning warehouse layout and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage and to achieve full warehouse optimization
- Take into account implications of freight turnover, size, weight and other factors when allocating warehouse space
- Ensure warehouse operations comply with all OSHA safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections and training sessions; implement protocols for hazardous materials and equipment safety
- Prepare reports as required
- Oversee maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment and systems, if applicable
- Drive a forklift when necessary
- Cross dock experience highly preferred
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
- Highschool diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, CILT) are a plus
- 5+ years of direct or related experience in warehouse. Within the freight forwarding or logistics industry preferred.
- 1+ years as a mentor or leading others
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS)
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and warehouse best practices
- Ability to operate a forklift and knowledge of dock equipment
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products (with an emphasis on Word, PPT and Excel)
Physical Requirements
- Must be able sit, walk and stand on a continuous basis, as well as be able to communicate effectively through written and verbal expression using either a PC/keyboard or a telephone.
- Must be able to effectively deal with moderate levels of stress.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
- Ability to lift and move 40 -80 lbs. in a warehouse environment
- Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, squat and stoop as needed.

- Identify department training requirements and conduct training as needed
- Hold regular individual 1x1 and team meetings.
- Clearly communicate department and individual initiatives / goals
- Develop, monitor and review regularly metrics and goals with team members
- Conduct performance appraisals; provide rewards and execute disciplinary actions/ workplace solutions for department staff
- Accountable for recruiting and hiring process for new hire requirements
