As a vital part of the SLO Classical Academy team, all coaches are responsible for leading their respective teams through regular practices, games, team meetings, etc. towards the end of providing a safe and spirited environment for students to develop as athletes, practice good sportsmanship, and exercise virtue.
- The Varsity Golf Coach position is a seasonal position with coaching taking place from August 2026-November 2026
- Reports to the Athletic Director
- Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques, as well as advanced techniques needed for competitive athletes
- High school varsity-level, college playing, and/or coaching experience in golf
- Obtain/maintain all necessary coaching requirements (CPR and First Aid Certification; Live Scan Background Clearance)
- Willing to learn about and support the mission of SLO Classical Academy (to be a community that forges character, fosters wisdom, and nurtures a lifelong passion for learning!)
- Able to take guidance yet work independently with minimal need for supervision or direction
- An affinity towards students and their development, along with an effective and flexible approach towards development and discipline in the athletic setting
- Service-oriented; a team player

- Strong problem assessment and problem solving skills
- Strong information gathering and monitoring skills
- Plans, executes, and coaches the Varsity Golf Team
- Interacts with the Athletic Director (AD) regarding student discipline issues
- Interacts with other coaches, teachers, and school staff
- Performs services in a manner that complies with the SLO Classical Academy Professional Code of Conduct
- Intervenes with misconduct issues (Code of Conduct: Athletes), and follows up with parents and AD as required
- Coordinates equipment and gear; provides written requests with budget estimates to the AD for approval
- Serves as the point person for practice location use and condition for practice
- Ensures proper supervision during practices and games/matches to help protect students from injury or diminish the risk of student injury
- Promotes a physically, emotionally, and socially secure climate for students, assistant coaches, and visitors
- Present at all practices and games/matches, or has a designated coach in charge until all players have left the field or building
- Able to stand, bend, stoop, sit on the floor, walk, and reach overhead for long periods of time; lift up to 50 pounds; hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly.
The pay range for this role is:
3,000 - 4,000 USD per year(Upper School Campus)
