ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Develop practice-specific knowledge, skills, and experience to manage projects and determine the appropriate course of action; maintain proficiency in technology relevant to the position.
  • Complete assignments using well-defined procedures, applying accrued knowledge and skills to manage general tasks independently.
  • Develop research skills to identify, organize, and verify the accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Leverage available resources to ensure the highest quality work product and increase efficiency.
  • Organize and manage assignments effectively to complete competing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Organize and maintain files and databases relevant to the practice group.
  • Develop analytical skills to identify issues and make effective decisions; resolve issues of limited scope and complexity using sound judgment.
  • Comply with administrative requirements to meet billable expectations, including preparing and releasing time entries daily and submitting timecards weekly.
  • Draft articles, alerts, and other thought leadership on a broad range of national security issues, including economic sanctions, foreign direct investment, foreign influence, export controls, and cybersecurity.
  • Assist with client matters related to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), including required filings and general research.
  • Assist with client matters related to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), including filing and tracking license applications.
  • Draft and distribute a weekly news bulletin covering sanctions, export controls, critical technologies, cybersecurity, CFIUS, and the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks and research projects as directed by attorneys, using online platforms and other resources as needed.
  • Track and monitor project progress and provide regular status reports; assist other practice areas with paralegal tasks as assigned.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two years of relevant experience in the practice area or comparable work experience preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines under general supervision.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership over projects.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing work product.
  • Ability to work concurrently on a variety of projects, with flexibility to shift focus as needed.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business and client needs.
  • Flexibility to travel as required.

Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications. We will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including Fair Chance Laws and Ordinances.

Washington, D.C. salary range: $76k to $106k
