The staff pharmacist plays a critical role in improving patient outcomes and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. By collaborating closely with patients, nurses, and physicians, the pharmacist helps optimize drug therapy, dosage, and delivery methods, which directly enhances treatment effectiveness and minimizes the risk of medication-related errors. Their expertise in drug interactions, compounded medications, and therapeutic alternatives supports providers in making informed clinical decisions. What You’ll be Doing:
The responsibilities of the Staff Pharmacist include but are not limited to:
· Maintaining knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations relative to pharmacy practice.
· Reviewing prescriptions to assure accuracy.
· Filling prescriptions and dispensing medications.
· Serving patients by providing information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and proper medication storage.
· Analyzing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive use or harmful interactions.
· Monitoring the prescribed and over-the-counter drugs or supplements the patient is taking.
· Advising patients on the selection of over-the-counter products, supplements, and other health care supplies.
· Referring patients to other health professionals and agencies when appropriate.
· Maintaining records such as pharmacy files and patient profiles.
· Maintaining an accurate inventory including proper storage and handling.
· Continuing his/her own education regarding new drugs, therapeutic pathways, compounding technology, medical breakthroughs and innovations.
· Teaching pharmacy students serving as interns in preparation for their graduation or licensure.
· Collaborating with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens.
· Stepping in and acting as Pharmacist In Charge when needed.
Who You’ll be Working With:
The staff pharmacist works directly with patients, nurses, and doctors while supervising pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students/residents.
Skills and Experience You’ll Bring to the Table:
· Graduate of an accredited institution.
· Current Michigan Pharmacy license (Pharmacist is responsible for compliance with Continuing Education requirements and maintaining the license).
· Current Michigan Controlled Substance license.
· Ability to work/travel on nights and weekends as necessary.
· Previous experience in a community, specialty, or outpatient pharmacy is desirable.

Work environment:
This role will require the Staff Pharmacist to spend most of the day on their feet, working behind the prescription counter. Bending and lifting are required to handle inventory. The Staff Pharmacist may be required to occasional overnight travel, and weekend and/or evening work as necessary.
