Description:

We are seeking a Human Resources Specialist to support and strengthen our growing HR function. As our organization continues to evolve, we are focused on enhancing HR programs, updating policies and procedures, and developing processes that support both employees and business objectives.

This role will serve as a key HR resource for approximately 140 employees and will focus heavily on employee relations, including handling employee concerns, conducting workplace investigations, managing grievances, and supporting leaders with performance management and disciplinary matters. The ideal candidate will also provide day-to-day HR, payroll, and benefits support while bringing a proactive mindset to evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and help develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices that improve efficiency, compliance, and the overall employee experience.

Essential Responsibilities:

Employee Relations

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employee concerns, grievances, and workplace issues.
  • Conduct employee investigations and document findings and recommendations.
  • Partner with managers to address employee performance, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
  • Promote a positive, compliant, and employee-focused work environment.

HR Administration

  • Provide day-to-day HR support for all employees.
  • Maintain employee records and HR data within Paylocity.
  • Support onboarding, offboarding, employee status changes, and general HR administration.
  • Assist employees and managers with HR policies, procedures, and benefits-related questions.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, communications, and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and related documentation.
  • Review existing policies and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and alignments with organization needs.
  • Support policy rollouts and provide guidance to managers and employees regarding policy interpretation and application.

Payroll, Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Support payroll processing and benefits administration through Paylocity.
  • Administer FMLA and Short-Term Disability (STD) processes, including employee communication, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with benefit enrollments, life events, and employee benefit enquiries.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Assess current HR processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.
  • Evaluate Paylocity functionality and recommend enhancements to maximize platform capabilities.
  • Help optimize benefits administration and other HR workflows to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
  • Assist with implementation and documentation of new HR processes and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience, with a strong focus on employee relations.
  • Experience handling employee investigations, conflict resolutions, and workplace issues.
  • Experience with payroll, benefits administration, and leave management.
  • Knowledge of FMLA, Short-Term Disability, and employment law compliance.
  • Experience using HRIS systems; Paylocity experienced preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive matters.
