Sr. HVAC Engineer in Plymouth, Michigan at Sanden International (U.S.A.), Inc.

Purpose of this Job:

This role is responsible for promoting SANDEN HVAC products to OEM customers to drive new business and to lead technical communication with OEM customers for ongoing projects by conducting the following:

· Technical promotion of SANDEN HVAC products

· OEM customer specification / requirements review for HVAC products

· Communication with OEM customer technical personnel during product development

· This role may include training for other engineers and staff in HVAC system components.

Principle Duties/Essential Functions:

· Establish and present technical presentation material with Sanden headquarters for external customers for technical promotion.

· Establish and present project updates to external customers.

· Lead and close technical and quality subjects with customer and Sanden internal and ensure customer satisfaction.

· Work with Sanden’s internal departments to ensure product development is complying with customer technical requirement and milestones and obtain customer approvals.

· Coach / mentor engineers and other staff for Sales Engineering growth based on expertise.

Other Tasks/Responsibilities:

· Gather the voice of customer and research industry trends / regulations and initiating product innovation / promotion ideas.

· Review customer technical specifications to confirm product compliance.

· Represent Sanden at vehicle HVAC industry conferences and events and in industry groups such as Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)Work with other Sanden locations to ensure product designs are consistent.

· Provide technical support to internal customers.

· Support / participate in project team(s) as engineering expert.

· Other projects as assigned by management.

· Responsible for awareness and compliance with company Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Contributing to the effectiveness of the EHS policies and procedures by communicating and reporting unsafe conditions and/or non-compliance.

Education:

· Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (BSME preferred)

· Masters’ Degree in Engineering (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

· 3 to 6 years’ experience in automotive HVAC application design / application support with a preference toward HVAC / system component (HVAC/HX/ITMS) development, Vehicle & HVAC / HVAC System Testing Knowledge/Skills, and HVAC/ITMS system knowledge.

· FEA / CFD analysis knowledge

· Working knowledge of electric vehicle thermal management systems.

· Working knowledge of current computer technology and applications such as CAD, CAE, and MS Office applications.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills with internal and external customers.

· Knowledge and experience in the application of automotive development process tools such as DRMEA, DRBFM, and DVP&R.

· Knowledge of IATF-16949 and ISO-14001 procedures.

· Hands-on experience with vehicle and test equipment.

Licenses or Certifications:

· EPA-608 and/or EPA-609 are desired

Physical Demands:

· Routine lifting of 25 lb. loads (HVAC) may be necessary

· Possible exposure to high noise levels

· Possible exposure to chemicals (oils, refrigerants, solvents).

· Exposure to environmental temperatures of 30 - 110 degrees Fahrenheit

· Ability to work effectively under pressure and be able to prioritize workloads

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

· PPE may be required based on specific projects

Work Environment/Hours:

· Primary work area is in an office setting

· Other work environments include a test lab environment

· Must work normal office hours plus provide support on evenings and weekend (as needed)

Primary Work Location:

· Plymouth, MI

Travel Requirements:

· 0 – 15% domestic

· 0 – 5% international to countries such as but not limited to Mexico and Japan
