Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Director for the Suffolk County House of Correction in Boston, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and appropriate medical care of the inmate patient population in accordance with community and national standards of care.
  • Provide overall supervision of clinical staff services.
  • Works collaboratively on clinical matters with internal and external medical providers and vendors.
  • Evaluate the healthcare needs of the inmate population, reviews, and approves clinical policies, protocols, current medical programs, and emergency plans as necessary (at least annually).
  • Acts as the health care program’s clinical representative with visitors, in discussions, meetings and audit and accreditation reviews.
  • Adhere to, safely enforces, and follows security procedures and regulations for security related policies and procedures, key control, sharps inventories and controlled substances.
  • No on-call duties required.
  • No travel required.

Schedule

  • Full-time 40 hours a week
  • Day shift, Monday-Friday, flexible hours

Salary

  • $400,000 per year
Requirements:

Qualifications & Education:

  • Education: Medical Degree
  • Must possess a current Massachusetts license.
  • Current DEA registration must be in good standing.
  • Must be Board Certified/eligible or qualified by state laws and regulations to practice medicine.
  • Experience in primary care specialty in corrections or managed care delivery preferred.
  • Hold current CPR certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds.
  • Regularly able to adequately perform CPR.
