Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Employment Status: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic and collaborative member of the executive leadership team responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the organization. This role ensures fiscal sustainability, supports mission-driven decision-making, and maintains the highest standards of financial stewardship and compliance.
The CFO will bring strong expertise in nonprofit financial management, strategic planning, and accounting, along with a cooperative leadership style that aligns with the organization’s values.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on financial strategy and organizational growth
- Develop and implement financial strategies that support long-term sustainability and mission impact
- Contribute to strategic planning and organizational decision-making
- Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability across departments
Financial Management & Oversight
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management for an $8M organization
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulations
- Manage annual audit and tax filings
Accounting & Systems
- Lead and supervise accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Maintain and optimize financial systems, including QuickBooks
- Ensure proper grant tracking and reporting
Funding & Compliance
- Oversee financial aspects of grants, contracts, and funding sources
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local funding requirements
- Provide financial analysis to support program funding decisions
Specialized Financial Initiatives
- Provide expertise in complex financing structures, including New Market Tax Credits (NMTC) (preferred experience)
- Support capital projects and financial modeling as needed
Team & Culture Leadership
- Actively contribute as a cooperative, supportive member of the executive leadership team
- Lead and mentor finance and billing staff while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment
- Promote the organization’s core values of kindness, honesty, and respect in all interactions
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit finance and accounting, including strategic leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit financial management and accounting principles
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
- Experience working within behavioral health, healthcare, or nonprofit human services sectors
- Experience with New Market Tax Credits (NMTC) or similar financing mechanisms
- Experience managing government grants and complex funding streams
- Experience with QuickBooks
