Gastroenterology Endoscopy Technician Lead

GI Tech Lead – Endoscopy

We’re seeking an experienced and motivated GI Tech Lead to coordinate and support the daily operations of our Endoscopy unit. This role combines hands-on procedural support, leadership responsibilities, and operational oversight to help ensure efficient workflow, patient safety, and exceptional care delivery.

Scheduling & Location

  • Full-time leadership position
  • Day shift schedule with flexibility based on procedural volume and department needs
  • Schedule expectations discussed during the interview process
  • Located at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital and Froedtert Prairie Ridge Clinic

What You’ll Do

As a GI Tech Lead, you’ll play a key role in supporting physicians and nursing staff during gastrointestinal procedures while overseeing equipment readiness, supply coordination, and daily workflow within the Endoscopy department.

Clinical & Technical Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures including colonoscopies, EGDs, and bronchoscopies
  • Prepare procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment prior to cases
  • Handle, maintain, and troubleshoot endoscopes and procedural accessories
  • Perform high-level disinfection and sterilization in accordance with established infection prevention standards and protocols
  • Monitor patients during procedures as permitted by scope of practice
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and service repairs as needed

Leadership & Team Support

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to GI Technicians and support staff
  • Assist with orientation and training of new employees on department procedures, equipment usage, and safety standards
  • Serve as a department resource for technical and procedural questions
  • Promote a collaborative and professional work environment within the Endoscopy team

Operations, Supply Chain & Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate daily operational flow of the Endoscopy unit to support efficient patient care and procedural scheduling
  • Serve as the primary staff member responsible for ordering and maintaining GI lab supplies and consumables
  • Monitor inventory levels and proactively reorder supplies to ensure uninterrupted workflow
  • Organize and maintain supply storage areas for efficiency, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate with medical supply vendors regarding pricing, product availability, deliveries, equipment, and service needs
  • Evaluate supply usage trends and recommend cost-effective purchasing decisions
  • Maintain accurate documentation of orders, deliveries, inventory tracking, and equipment logs

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure adherence to infection prevention standards, high-level disinfection guidelines, and safety protocols
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards including Joint Commission and OSHA requirements
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and departmental process improvement activities
  • Maintain accurate records related to sterilization, equipment maintenance, and supply utilization

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of endoscopic procedures, equipment, and reprocessing standards
  • Previous GI, Endoscopy, or procedural experience preferred
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred but not required
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Inventory management and vendor coordination experience preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to infection prevention practices
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities
