Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager of MedCare Services will oversee the MedCare Transfer Center and MedCare Ambulance Services. This role is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care. Reporting to the Director of Emergency Services, the Manager will collaborate with other organizational leaders to align services with UNC Health Southeastern's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Science, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or a related field with three (3) years of leadership experience in Emergency Services, patient transportation, or a related field; or Associate’s Degree in Emergency Medical Services with five (5) years of leadership in a busy Emergency Services system. North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. A proficiency in data analysis, medical billing, and performance improvement methodologies. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners, strong knowledge of ambulance and patient transfer regulations.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Emergency Medical Science, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field. National Registry Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication, care and assessment during patient interactions; and must be able to ensure competency in staff they supervise for same. Incumbent will understand and be able to apply knowledge of medical necessity, billing and various levels of specialized patient transportation. Incumbent will establish and monitor performance metrics for MedCare operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. They will lead quality improvement initiatives to aid in enhanced patient outcomes, safety and satisfaction. Incumbent will serve as a liaison between MedCare and other internal and external departments to address operational challenges and improve interdisciplinary collaboration. Must foster strong relationships with healthcare providers, patients, and community partners. Participate in Robeson County Peer Review meetings quarterly and possess the ability to network and establish positive relationships with local service area EMS providers. Closely monitor compliance with local, state and federal regulations, in addition to organizational policies. Provide leadership, direction and oversight of all MedCare operations by staffing, scheduling, vehicle maintenance and resource allocation. Instill a sense of professionalism and dedication in employees and reinforce a positive work environment. Aid in the development of annual budget and monitoring departmental productivity.
