Full-Time | Non-Exempt | Helena

Position Overview: A PACT specialist who is part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for planning and coordinating care and services to meet individual needs of clients with severe and persistent mental illness under the clinical supervision of the team leader and the psychiatrist. Provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support services.

Job Duties:

  • May provide case management, educational groups, crisis response, assistance with discharging from a higher level of care, connection with resources and medication observation for an assigned group of clients including coordinating and monitoring the activities of the individual treatment team (ITT), assume primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment goals and plans in conjunction with the ITT for the assigned caseload, providing individual supportive therapy and symptom management, ensuring immediate changes are made in the treatment plans as clients’ needs change, educating and supporting clients’ families, and advocating for all clients’ rights and preferences. Care is provided in the community environment 75% of the time and is typically outside of the office as clients are met where they are.
  • Ensures comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history is complete for assigned clients (e.g., onset, course and effect of illness, past treatment and responses, and risk behaviors), physical health and dental health; use of drugs or alcohol; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living (e.g., self-care, living situation, nutrition, money management); and family structure and relationships.
  • Acts as liaison and consults with community agencies and families to maintain coordination in the treatment process.
  • Provides on-call crisis intervention covering night-time hours and serves as a backup to evening and weekend staff.
  • Documents client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures according to MRWH policy.
  • Provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support services, with some interventions directed or performed by staff with specialty training and skills (e.g., employment specialists).
  • Provides symptom education to enable clients to identify their mental illness symptoms and provides benefits counseling (e.g., Supplemental Security Income (SSI), veterans’ benefits).
  • Works in a team concept and attends training as requested by Supervisor.
  • May provide training on the identification of mentally ill individuals to agencies where these clients are likely to receive services.
  • Performs medication delivery/observation. Delivers medications during rotating on-call shift.
  • Must pass Many Rivers medication certification test. Must deliver medications.
  • Completes and appropriately maintains all required paperwork in accordance with MRWH policy.
  • May need to transport clients in personal vehicle, must have valid driver’s license and valid insurance coverage.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services field plus 2 years of full-time experience serving people with mental illnesses (serving SDMI adults is preferred) preferred OR
  • Associate’s degree in human services field plus 4 years of full-time experience serving people with mental illnesses (serving SDMI adults is preferred) OR
  • Individuals with other educational backgrounds who, as providers, consumers, or advocates of mental health services have developed the necessary knowledge and skills may be considered.
  • Must have a strong commitment to the rights and abilities of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences, work in a competitive position, and to have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous supports and services.

Wage: $21.84/hour + DOE
