Job Description

Salary Range: $118,000 - $123,348.24

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the candidate selected is eligible for a years-of-service pay differential, it will be added to the total compensation. A pay differential does not raise the base pay.

Job Location: This position will be located at Harry S Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Why is the work you do in this position important to Missouri?

This senior-level advanced technical position serves Missourians by helping ensure that insurance companies are financially able to pay insurance claims in times of loss. This is achieved by coordinating and supervising risk-focused financial examinations to verify insurers have adequate internal controls, are compliant with Missouri statutes and regulations, and are in sound financial condition.

  • Work includes supervision of the financial examination process which evaluates insurers’ financial operations, risks and controls, corporate governance and management practices, recorded assets, liabilities, surplus and capital for compliance with statutes, rules, and regulations. Work culminates in a written Report of Examination to the DCI Director summarizing significant findings and concerns which becomes a public document published on the DCI website
  • Senior-level team leader responsible for the planning, scheduling and overall coordination of financial examinations. Supervises all levels of examiners, provides hiring recommendations, examiner training, performance assessment, coaching and progressive discipline. Ensures examinations adhere to the accreditation standards of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
  • A Bachelor’s degree with seven or more years of relevant experience. Achievement of the Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) designation from the Society of Financial Examiners. (Substitutions may be allowed).

Note: An employee in this position will have the opportunity to obtain insurance designations required for accreditation or certification and maintain the designations through continuing education. Employment in this position may qualify individuals for the provisions under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
