Senior Director, National Accounts

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, National Accounts based in the United States.

This is a senior commercial leadership opportunity focused on accelerating growth, profitability, and customer retention across major North American accounts.
You will own strategic account planning and commercial execution for complex, high-value customer relationships.
The role combines executive relationship management, business development, financial performance, negotiation, and operational excellence.
You will work across regional, global, and cross-functional teams to align priorities and bring growth strategies and new products to market.
As a highly visible leader, you will influence senior stakeholders and shape long-term partnerships with strategically important customers.
Success will be measured through revenue growth, profitability, customer loyalty, operational improvements, and delivery against ambitious business objectives.
This role is well suited to an experienced commercial leader who thrives in complex, matrixed environments and enjoys turning strategic opportunities into measurable results.

Accountabilities
  • Lead sales strategy execution and overall commercial performance across assigned national accounts.
  • Develop comprehensive account strategies that drive revenue growth, profitability, customer retention, and long-term partnership value.
  • Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders within major customer organizations.
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities that expand account penetration, increase customer value, and accelerate growth.
  • Partner with regional and global teams to align commercial priorities, execute strategic initiatives, and support new product launches.
  • Lead customer and internal business reviews, performance assessments, strategic planning sessions, and account planning activities.
  • Analyze sales performance, KPIs, financial results, and market trends to identify opportunities and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and contribute to contract discussions while pursuing mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, customer experience, account economics, and overall profitability.
  • Lead high-impact projects and strategic initiatives designed to strengthen customer partnerships and support sustainable business growth.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to teams and cross-functional partners involved in national account initiatives.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in sales, business development, national account management, or broader commercial leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of managing large, complex strategic or national accounts and delivering significant revenue growth.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong commercial, financial, and business acumen, with the ability to interpret performance metrics and convert insights into actionable strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility, influence decisions, and build lasting relationships with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating effectively within global, matrixed organizations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to develop talent and align teams around shared objectives.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset combined with a strong focus on continuous improvement and measurable outcomes.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluent in English.
  • For remote/hybrid work, reliable internet connectivity of at least 200 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload is required.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges, even when not every listed qualification is already in place.
