Drafter – Commercial Cabinet and Millwork

Job Title: Drafter

Department: Engineering / Drafting

Reports To: Engineering Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Location: North Port, Florida or Pinellas Park, Florida

Position Summary

The Drafter is responsible for producing accurate and detailed shop drawings for custom cabinets and millwork based on architectural plans, specifications, and project requirements. This position supports project execution by preparing documents used in manufacturing and installation. The ideal candidate has experience in commercial millwork drafting and is proficient in relevant CAD software. Proficiency in the Microvellum platform is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed and accurate shop drawings for custom cabinetry and millwork using CAD software.
  • Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and project documentation to create production-ready drawings.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and production staff to ensure constructability and accuracy.
  • Revise drawings based on markups, redlines, and change orders.
  • Ensure compliance with AWI standards and project-specific guidelines.
  • Meet project deadlines while maintaining high levels of precision and quality.
  • Use the Microvellum platform for drafting and project documentation, if available.
  • Assist with data entry and coordination for cut lists, bills of materials, and fabrication instructions.
  • Maintain accurate file management and documentation for all assigned projects.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and maintain alignment with company drafting standards.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Architecture, or related field required.
  • 2+ years of drafting experience in commercial cabinetry or architectural millwork required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD drafting software required.
  • Proficiency in Microvellum drafting platform preferred.
  • Knowledge of cabinetry, casework, millwork construction methods, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Familiarity with AWI standards and ADA regulations is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role is typically performed in an office setting using computer-aided drafting equipment. May occasionally visit production or job sites for measurements or coordination.
